Large format work has the inherent ability to capture and expose fine detail. In addition, working with a larger camera and negative brings a methodical element to the photograph's process, subject and composure. These abilities resolve many of the formal concerns that I address in my work -- texture, line, depth and quality of light.
To make these formal concerns visible, I search for subjects that are beautiful. Yet, when surveying my body of work, beauty becomes a deceptive force, often concealing something unsettling. Through creative production I have found a means to examine this relationship in both its formal and moral manifestations.
